The La Salle County Children's Advocacy Center is a not-for-profit agency, open to all of the county's citizens, that requires no payment for services. The center is listed by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501C3 corporation, and is registered as an Illinois Charity through the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. Financial assistance and material donations may be made to the center by anyone, with those donations being tax deductible.
The La Salle County Children's Advocacy Center, was created to provide services and assistance to children and their families who have experienced sexual abuse or serious physical injury by abuse. The center was created through the ideas of area professionals who were involved in the investigation of child abuse, who recognized that abused children, and their families, needed special attention and treatment.
This same group of professional, who began this project a number of years ago, decided that the center should receive a name that would be recognizable, and one that would convey the reason why the center was created. Therefore, the La Salle County Children's Advocacy Center project was named for two children who were lost to physical abuse:
Dani Bivens 09/18/1993 to 11/18/1998
and
Brandon Green 11/28/1998 to 02/19/1999
The Dani-Brandon Center for Children is governed by an Executive Board that includes the La Salle County State's Attorney, the La Salle County Sheriff, the Child Protection Supervisor from the local Department of Children and Family Services office, the director of the Youth Service Bureau, and a local school social worker. All of these people have dedicated themselves to the concern for the safety and stability of the county's most vulnerable citizens, its children.
The Dani-Brandon Center for Children is managed by personnel that were hired based on their levels of education and experience. Currently, the center is staffed by only two employees, an Executive Director and a Child Advocate, to assist our children and the families referred to us.
Funding for the Center is provided by grants from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, Illinois Attorney General, and United Way of Illinois Valley. Additional funding is sought through fundraising, private donations, and corporate donations.
